Long Timer Alert at Clay County Animal Care & Control!!

A long timer dog is one that has been at the shelter for awhile. These four have been at the Clay County Animal Care and Control for way too long. Go check them out! Please. 🙂

fredFred is another sweet boy, who is also one of many senior dogs. Senior dogs definitely should not spend their life at a shelter. You can help even if you can’t adopt. Here’s how: First thing, go to Friends of Clay County Animals and like their page. Share their page with your facebook friends. There are alot of people who are not even aware there is an animal shelter on 16 in Green Cove Springs. The 2nd thing you can do is to share the picture of the dogs and cats available. You never know, one of your friends may be looking to add to their family. If you know anyone who is missing their dog, direct them to the shelter, maybe their lost baby is there. 3rd thing, check the lost and found section of craigslist and look at the pics of the dogs at the shelter. I saw two missing dogs on CL, and remembered that I saw them at Clay County Animal Shelter. The 4th thing is that maybe you can’t adopt, but could foster?

Senior Alert! Urgent Seniors at Clay County Animal Care & Control

This week’s post is for the older dogs at the shelter.  They should not have to spend their golden years in a lonely kennel, they should be spending it with you in a warm home and fun times. Yeah, puppies are cute, but gosh, they chew things up, leave presents for us, you get the picture right? 🙂 Seniors have already been through that stage. Now, I’m not saying the older dogs won’t mess up, cos they can and will, especially if they were not trained right or not given the love and care they deserve. Ok, enough of the jabber, let’s check out a few pics of some sweet older doggies.

newmanNewman is 10 years old. He’s missing some teeth and is not doing so good at the shelter. He needs alot of love and patience. Look at that cute face.

wolfeyWolfey is a 9 year old female Akita/Alaskan Husky. Look at her beautiful eyes, don’t make her wait in the shelter any longer.

denaleeDenalee is a 10 year old handsome male doggie. Look at how cute he is, he deserves to find a forever home soon.

fredFred is 8 years old, he is great with kids and other dogs! He is so good with other dogs that volunteers used him at the Clay Expo to show potential adopters how to introduce dogs correctly!!Go get that handsome boy!

There are more drop offs coming in, then there are adoptions, rescues or fosters. In fact, at least 3 dogs have lost their lives today, maybe even more than 3. 🙁

Urgent dogs at Clay County Animal Shelter in Green Cove Springs

BERNIE MACBernie Mac is in the house, well actually the shelter. He’s looking for a forever home tho. He is a sweet dog, but he’s getting very depressed and needs someone to step up and love him forever. Look at his face, how can you resist him?

MCFLYHere is another dog who is very depressed. He was adopted from ACPS, then dumped at Clay. He’s good with other dogs. Help Mcfly get back to his future of a loving forever home.

KITTY ORIENTATIONLet’s change gears and focus our attention on all the awesome kitties at the shelter. The shelter is pretty full of them and it’s urgent that there cats get adopted or rescued. If you’re a cat person and want to help out with the kitties at the shelter, they are having a kitty volunteer orientation this Saturday at 10:30.

Urgent dogs in danger at Clay County Animal Shelter

These three dogs are in danger of being put down if they are not adopted or fostered soon. If you live in Clay County, you can foster one of these dogs and save a life.

HavelUPDATE: Havel was adopted!!!! WOOHOO!!! This is Havel. I have not been lucky enough to hang out with him, so I can’t tell you much. These kennel pictures never do the dog justice. For more information on this handsome guy, visit Pet Finders.

SachmoeSachmoe is another dog that I haven’t been lucky enough to make his acquaintance, but I have heard he is a sweet heart. It’s hard to resist his face in those pictures above. You can find out more information about Sachmoe here.

cartmanUPDATE: Cartman has left the building!!! I am gonna miss the big guy, but I am so happy he found his forever home. Cartman is one who I have had a few opportunities to hang out with. He LOVES the water. He gives pretty awesome sloppy kisses. He is very affectionate. You really need to go check him out.
