Lake Asbury Community Neighborhoods in Green Cove Springs Fl
Lake Asbury is not a master planned community like Eagle Harbor or Fleming Island Plantation, but it is a cozy community with a variety of neighborhoods to entice all styles and tastes. Some people have said that it is way out there, and compared to Orange Park and Fleming Island, it is a little farther away from Jacksonville. You feel like you’re tucked away in your own little world, yet you are close enough to other areas to get get things done, without feeling like you’re driving for hours. The zip code is 32043, which is Green Cove Springs. There are 3 schools close by. Lake Asbury Jr High, Lake Asbury Elementary and Shadowlawn Elementary. Shadowlawn is right off of 218, going south of Henley, while the other two schools are right in the heart of the Lake Asbury Community off of Sandridge.
You’re gonna love the Ronnie Van Zant park that is also on Sandridge. I’m just going to dive into my favorite part of the park. Take the first entrance, closest to the schools, and drive back behind the playground. Which btw is pretty cool for a playground. Lots of slides and swings. My kids’ favorite part was the merry go round apparatus. Those kids would spend the longest time on that trying to see who would fall off or throw up first. 🙂 Back to my favorite part. In the back is a pond with pavilions and walking trails. I love taking lunches there! You can fish in the pond, but you have to have your fishing license of course, and a kid with you. Kids have clout there I tell ya. There’s way more there, and I have written a post just for the park, that you can view by clicking here.
Back in the day you had to drive to Orange Park or Middleburg to get to any stores, but now there is a shopping plaza in Lake Asbury, so you don’t have to go far. Winn Dixe is there, along with Creek Life Food Shack, Pizza, Subway and more!
Glenhaven was born back in 2000 and was finished mainly around 2007, but there were a few stragglers completed in 2015. It’s one of the bigger neighborhoods in Lake Asbury with over 400 homes. There’s a playground inside of the subdivision and right around the corner from the Ronnie Van Zant park. The are are multiple entrances on Sandridge and Henley, which can help get you in and out much more efficiently. There are some really cool floor plans in here, as there were more custom home builders than bigger national names.
Rolling Hills is the newest neighborhood in Lake Asbury and at this time is currently still building houses. Located on the hill on Sandridge, residents enjoy having a beautiful pool and clubhouse. There’s a nature trail and tennis courts as well. Easy access to get on the sidewalk at Sandridge. Close to the elementary and Jr High, plus Ronnie Van Zant park. Not far from Russell Road (209), so you can reach Highway 17 fairly quickly. Rolling Hills really has a nice feel to it when you are driving into the neighborhood. It gives you the feel of Eagle Harbor, but still maintaining a smaller and close knit community. If you look closely, you will find some utility boxes were painted as minions, which I know is a hit with the minion fans. 🙂
Asbury Downs is located off of Henley Rd, not far from 218. It is a nice neighborhood to take a stroll in as there are many trees and a sidewalk for safety. The streets are named after race horses, which is kinda cool. The HOA added some decorative fencing a few years back, and it has made the entrance even more inviting to residents and future residents.
4 Bedroom Homes in Lake Asbury Area
Not much to say here, but many like having 4 bedrooms to have that extra space for guests, an office, exercise room or whatever floats your boat.
Silver Creek is a huge neighborhood that sports a pool and playground for the residents. It is another neighborhood that the HOA spends money on beautifying the entrance and roadways inside the subdivision. The last houses built was back in 2013. Great location close to schools and the park.
Russell Oaks is a smaller, older neighborhood in the Lake Asbury area. Started in the late 80s and completed in the mid 90s. When you first pull into the subdivision, you will see a pond to your left. Such a nice view! As you drive farther down Russell Oaks Dr, you will see a duck crossing sign. So cute! This is a perfect neighborhood for the first time home buyer or buyers looking to down size. When houses come on the market in here, they go super fast, so if you’re not seeing any houses here for Russell Oaks, that means there are none available.
Arava is a neighborhood off of Henley Rd, close to 218. The HOA takes pride in keeping the subdivision clean and it is a nice drive in and out of Arava. There are 3 ponds inside, which residents can enjoy fishing (catch & release) and a playground too. Sidewalks throughout, to get outdoors safely.
Southbank is a smaller neighborhood in Lake Asbury, right across from Ronnie Van Zant park on Sandridge. There is a pond with gazebo at the beginning of the neighborhood, that makes for a nice place to take a break while being outdoors.
Asbury Plantation @Lake Asbury
Asbury Plantation is the only subdivision in Lake Asbury that is gated. There are two entrances, both with electronic gates. Just over 100 homes, makes this community feel cozy and gives you a chance to meet your neighbors. The homes are larger on average, with the smallest one around 1900 and the largest is around 4100.
Meadow Lake is located off of Henley Rd in the Lake Asbury area. This neighborhood started in the late 80s and was completed in the mid to late 90s. There’s a pond at the front of the neighborhood that was constructed when Henley Rd was made into 4 lanes, so many people wondered why the neighborhood was called Meadow Lake, but no lake. Well, actually there is a lake, it’s just in the back of the subdivision and can be seen from Sandridge, right next to the Jr High. The lots are a little bigger, with most around 1/2 acre, which is pretty nice having a little more elbow room, without being too big.
Royal Pointe is located right next to 218 and is still having new homes built at the time this post is posted. Lots of sidewalks and as you take a drive around, you will see there are many residents not afraid to add some color to their homes, which makes the neighborhood look really nice!
Pool Homes in Lake Asbury Area
What can I say about pool homes that you don’t already know? 🙂 We are in Florida and they make for a nice escape of the hot temps we get to enjoy for most of the year. They go quick and there are not many on the market at this time in Lake Asbury.
Cross Creek is a newer neighborhood in the Lake Asbury area. Playground, tennis and volley ball courts. Community pool. Lots of opportunity to build from scratch or choose a home currently under construction.
The newest neighborhood in the Lake Asbury area. Right off Henley Rd and very close to the First Coast Expressway ramps, which will take you to St Johns County or get you to I10 in Jacksonville without having to take Blanding Blvd.
Asbury Trace
Asbury Trace is a tiny, tiny neighborhood in Lake Asbury area. Only 6 houses there, so we won’t see homes for sale often.
