Photo of the Week August 2 2013

I love this picture, because of the many different shades of blue, which by the way is my favorite color. This pier is the Jacksonville Beach Pier and as you can see it was a busy day for fishing in the ocean. You don’t always see the waters that blue there, but that day, they were pretty sweet. It was a fun day to be hanging out at the beach and a good way to beat the heat.

Nothing like water to make a great picture. This picture is of the pond at Ronnie Van Zant Park in the Lake Asbury area of Green Cove Springs. If you have a fishing license and a kid with you, you can fish here. Years ago the catfish were huge, but seem to be smaller the past couple of years. Still a great place to come to to get into nature and away from the hustle and bustle. Great place to bring a book or to eat your lunch.

If you want to get your fitness on, there are basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, plus frisbee golf. And for the little monkeys, there’s a giant jungle gym, slides and swings as well.

This photo is a little different than my normal Northeast Florida  landscape photos. This photo is of a doggie named Cartman. I probably don’t have to tell you that he loves water. What you can’t tell from the photo is that he loves to give big sloppy kisses and loves to be hugged. He’s also a shelter dog at a kill shelter in Clay County. The shelter in Clay County is packed and there are alot of awesome dogs that need a family, before they are put to sleep. I love walking Cartman. He is a handful at first when you get him out of his kennel. Who wouldn’t be, stuck in a tiny kennel 24/7! Once you get him out and let him run, he is a beautiful sight to see. He would be a perfect addition to the active family that better like water. 😉 So, you know you want to go check him  out so here’s a little more info on Cartman. I’m going to go walk Cartman tomorrow and as much as I look forward to that, I would be ecstatic if when I got there, that I found out he finally went home with his forever family.

This picture was taken at a fishing pier on the St Johns River at Rivertown Park,  which is off of State Road 13 in St Johns County. It really is a beautiful park with walking trails, restrooms, and an area to sit down and have a picnic in the grass. We were fishing that day when a storm was coming in and I thought the sky looked pretty neat with the blue skies to the left and the storm bringing dark clouds from the right.

This was taken at Jacksonville Beach Florida. Look at how blue the water is. I love seeing those colors.  There were alot of people out enjoying the beach today, and many lifeguards out watching the water, always alert. We were close to the Jacksonville pier and not far from the Lifeguard station, which is next to Joe’s Crab Shack.
