What’s Black Creek @ Eagle Harbor Like?

It’s a neighborhood in the master planned community of Eagle Harbor with bigger lots and bigger homes. There are 4 mini neighborhoods inside Black Creek. Eagle Creek, Cypress Creek, Spring Creek and Salt Creek, which is the exception to the bigger lots and homes. I know, I know, trying to keep you on your toes.

There is a Homeowner’s Association, which is $120 per year. There’s also a Community Development District known as The Crossings at Fleming Island Community Development District. That ranges from $1,720 up to $2,160 depending on which mini Black Creek neighborhood you’re in. Those bonds for the CDD will be paid off in May 1, 2030. Then the fees will reduce. I know you’re wondering what a CDD is. It is a special purpose government entity. I can’t do it justice, so if you go to the Crossings at Fleming Island CDD website it goes into greater detail.

Shopping Nearby

Fleming Island has alot of shopping nearby, so you may not need to venture off the island much. Obviously the big players like Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Winn Dixie, Publix and I don’t want to leave out the fast food chains. Mcdonald’s, Wendy’s, Chick Fil-A. Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and Fresh Market.

Country Walk is a subdivision that is part of the beautiful community of Eagle Harbor that’s in Fleming Island Florida. Eagle Harbor is a master planned community with a variety of smaller neighborhoods within. You will enjoy award winning amenities that will keep you busy without having to go far.

Speaking of amenities, you will enjoy 3 community pools, one with a slide! Tennis courts and Pickleball!! There’s activities like a book club and they even have their own app, so you can keep track of special events.

There is a homeowner’s association in Eagle Harbor and The Crossings at Fleming Island at Community Development District. The HOA fees are $60 a year and the CDD fee for Country Walk @Eagle Harbor is $675 per year.

Located in the zip code 32003 and in the county of Clay. Many military folks call Fleming Island home due to the proximity to NAS Jax. Just jump on Highway 17 North and you are only about 11 miles away! Before you get to NAS Jax, you will see I295. Head over the Buckman and you will be going east past the St Johns River. Country Walk is about 40-45 minutes from Jacksonville Beach, 35 minutes from downtown Jax, and Historic St Augustine is about an hour away. Things To Do

If you’re wanting to stay on the island of Fleming Island, you have some fun options. There are two golf courses, Eagle Harbor Golf Club and Fleming Island Golf Club. There are two public boat ramps to launch a boat or kayak. One is at the end of Lakeshore and the other on is at Black Creek Marina right by the bridge on Highway 17 going into Green Cove Springs. You can also launch a kayak at Doctors Lake Park off of N Lakeshore/White Owl. There are the various playgrounds in Fleming Island. Eagle Harbor Park, Moccasin Slough, Island Forest Park, Oak Creek Park, and Thunderbolt Park. Can’t forget United Soccer Alliance and Fleming Island Gymnastics.

Shopping

Fleming Island offers lots of shopping experiences without having to go far. You have your grocery stores like, Winn Dixie, Target, Walmart, Publix, Fresh Market, plus Grassroots Natural Market. Home Depot and Pat’s Nursery.

Drs Inlet Reserve in Middleburg Florida

Drs Inlet Reserve is a neighborhood with a Middleburg address, but super close to Fleming Island. With over 300 homes in the neighborhood, you will find there’s a small cozy feel, but plenty of people to get to know, or not, just in case you prefer to stay to yourself.

The neighborhood’s first home completed was in 2005, and the last one was finished in 2014. Square feet start a little over 1,200 and goes up over 3,600. So, there are alot of variations of sizes to meet your needs.

There is a community pool, volley ball court and playground. With that comes an HOA to manage the amenities, and to ensure Doctors Inlet Reserve maintains beautiful landscaping, plus a higher quality of life. Hey, they even do a yard of the month, so if gardening is your thing, this could be a fun competition. Currently the Cam team manages the Drs Inlet Reserves Home owner’s association.

Always verify this information, even though it doesn’t seem like it can change. Here’s the transportation department’s website, where you can add your address, and it will tell you what school’s you are zoned for. Now, in Florida you can choose where your child can go if you provide transportation AND that particular school has room. Our schools fill up fast due to all this new construction we are experiencing.

 

Where’s the grub?

Great location to get to some yummy places without driving far. Bambino’s is just around the corner and is excellent! G’s BBQ is close by off of Blanding Blvd. If you head to Fleming Island, you have multiple ice cream places, 10 different pizza joints, which is a little exaggerated, but only a little bit. A few Mexican restaurants to choose from. The Loop is a local favorite with a variety of food items on their menu. There’s too many to list here.  Here’s some locals, that you read about as well. Clayeats is a Facebook group where you find more places to go get your meal on. Jacksonville Restaurant Reviews is a great resource on places to eat, not just in Jacksonville, but also in Clay County. I don’t advise you to look on their website while hungry. It will make you want to lick the screen.

 

Things To Do Nearby

If you’re new to Florida, I’m sure you still know we have a lot of fun on the water. If you own a boat, there are about 3 or 4 boat ramps close by. There’s Jennings State Forest where you can swim in a creek, trail ride, horseback ride and hike.

Why Do People Live Here?

I think it comes back to location and lifestyle. Close to Jacksonville, without being in a big city. NAS JAX is right up the road on Highway 17 north. So we see alot of military folks in Fleming Island. Pretty convenient to I295, which will take you all around Jacksonville and get you closer to the beaches. If you enjoy St Augustine, you can either jump on I295, to get to I95 or take the scenic view by going south on Highway 17, to Highway 16 east and follow the signs.

What’s the Neighborhood Like?

Brookstone is located off of County Road 220, not far from Lakeshore dr West. (see map below). Although a part of Eagle Harbor, Brookstone has its own entrance, not connected to the main community. There are 141 single family homes. The first home built was in 1998 and the last one built was around 2003. Square footage starts around 1400 and goes up to around 2600 square feet. Brookstone residents get to enjoy the 3 pools in Eagle Harbor, which makes the hot summers of Florida fun and relaxing. Pleanty of pocket playgrounds throughout Eagle Harbor and plenty of sidewalks to get out and get some fresh air and exercise.

The association fee is around $50 per year. The CDD fees are around $1,289.36 per year. The CDD bond is set to be paid off May 1st, 2016. That’s not too far off! What’s Going on Nearby Brookstone in Eagle Harbor?

There’s two golf courses , one in Eagle Harbor and one in Fleming Island . It’s easy to enjoy boating, with a public boat ramp in Eagle Harbor to Doctors Lake, which leads you to the St Johns River. Follow Doctor’s Lake around to Whitey’s  Fish Camp, dock your boat and enjoy an awesome meal there. I love their grilled salmon and blackened shrimp. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. There’s another boat ramp at Knight’s Boat Ramp, just south on Highway 17, by the St Johns River and Black Creek. Fleming Island is not really very big, but size doesn’t mean you have to go to another city to get your shopping done. Super Target, Walmart Super Center, 2 Publix grocery stores, Kohl’s, Applebee’s, Carmike Movie theater, Home Depot and a bunch others. Heck, the only thing missing is a bookstore and an office supply store. Well, at least that’s what I’m thinking.
